Hopefully I've picked the right section to offer this. About a decade ago I ran across a roll of shutter cloth and bought it. This is the thin cloth that was used in some Leica models, some Olympus models and a few others. The thickness of this is .0065" and it is black synthetic silk vulcanized on one side. Can it be used on cameras which used thicker and heavier cloth like the Soviet cameras? Yes, the key is to use less spring tension (which may help reduce bounce and also help the shutter run more quietly). About 3 years ago a man bought what I thought was all I had left, but in cleaning out the store room here I found a piece which is about 4 feet by 4 feet. It has been rolled for years, but setting it in the sun should flatten it nicely. $20 plus actual postage. PayPal ok for international buyers but check, cash or money order for buyers in the USA please.

Don't know how to replace shutter curtains you say? Well, that's not a problem keemosabe. Day after tomorrow the Lone Ranger rides right through the box office and into movie houses across the land. Buy yourself a spool of black elastic thread at any hobby store, a stapler and some staples and you'll have enough material here to make a couple hundred Genuine Lone Ranger Masks! Maybe more than that if you cut carefully. You betcha! Sell them in the parking lot of the theater for $4~5 each and just think of the profit you'll make. Don't wait, though. That movie could turn into a big fat flop from what I'm being told so you want to strike while the iron is...lukewarm?

If questions, please ask.

I restore Thornton Pickard roller blind shutters on a regular basis, as well as shutters curtains like Speed Graphics, Reflex Graflex, and a variety of British early SLRs. I also supply shutter cloth to a US restorer. The early UK slrs shutters have two separate curtains and operate like a modern 35mm/MF slr so don't use much cloth however the Graflex shutters are crude in comparison needing a lot of cloth a 7x5 Graflex needs about 6 foot x 8 inches.
