Well, it seems I have too many Rolleis sitting about... must let one go! So, here's a nice 2.8D with the Schneider Xenotar taking lens.
As can hopefully be seen in the pictures, this example is in overall very good condition. Things to note:
The serial number range for the 2.8D started at 1,600,000 so this is only the 27th unit of the production examples (1955). Total production was only just over 20,000, so far fewer than most of the other standard Rollei models (i.e., models other than the Tele, Wide, etc).
As is often the case, there is a little bit of paint loss on the area surrounding the winding lever. But not too bad. The lever itself has a few small marks.
The Xenotar has some cleaning marks and so the front coating is not perfect. However, I've never noticed any ill effects in the resulting photos.
The Rolleikin counter is installed and functions, although the Rolleikin 35mm kit is not installed or included.
The viewing screen is in fine shape. These units still had the ground glass screens. It is possible to upgrade these to a newer fresnel type but I never wanted to change from the original configuration.
Focusing, firing, and advancing the film all function fine. The focusing rack action is very smooth and the aperture/shutter controls are as well.
The 2.8D does offer the option of using the coupled aperture/shutter speed EV system. It can be disabled, and that's how I always used it.
The waist level finder works great, and has both of the adjustable magnifiers in place. (Note that the 2.8D does not have a removable finder).
A proper Rolleiflex lens shade is included. Also included is the mirrored lens cap (a bit battered, but perfectly functional).
I failed to photograph it but I will include the leather case for the camera. It works fine but, as is usual, is in somewhat scruffy condition.
