This device fits on camera or enlarger lens via 3 plastic thumb screws. It allows for variable control of diffusion via a dial. The settings for diffusion are DCBAS0987654321 (see picture). It fits on a lens of up to 2 inches in diameter, or perhaps SK Grimes company can machine an adapter for larger lenses. I believe the device is called Pictrol, for short. I believe it is made almost entirely, if not entirely, of plastic. Made in USA by Arkay company of Milwaukee, Wis. $10 plus postage.
btw, the "lens" is not broken. It is supposed to look like that. Also, the mechanism is slightly stiff, but works okay if gently grasped.
