DARLOT / FRENCH PETZVALS

Looking back at some of my older photos, I realized that most of my best shots were taken when I had few lenses and crappy equipment. The crappy equipment is my norm, so, I've decided to try a random lens sell-off.

Not all of these lenses will be sold. There are going to be 2 groups of petzvals (French and not French) and probably one of RR lenses. If by some miracle, they did sell down to the end, I'm going to keep at least a couple of them and shoot only those this summer. So, if you want one, get it now. It might not be available later on.

International sales are ok except for the Darlot Cone, which is US only, USPS money order only. Customs forms will be filled out correctly with the proper amounts so don't bother asking them to be falsified.

Payments: Except for the Darlot cone, paypal is ok; $$ to APUG if sold here

If you have questions or want to buy one, email or PM me only. And please be specific about which lens you mean. As unlikely as it seems, if there is a mad rush, I'll go by the order I receive the PM or email offering to buy with immediate payment. Posting in the listing doesn't contact me.

All focal lengths, image circles, apertures are approximate. You should EXPECT cleaning wisps and possibly up to 1mm of separation. Most have none, but my eyes aren't as good as they used to be and more serious things are mentioned. These are not new off the show room...

Shipping: $12 insured for 1 or 2 lenses in the USA. More lenses than that, we'll work it out.

Darlot cone centralisateur:

focal length approx 6"; approx f3.5 but also has the usually missing 'pillbox' which makes it f5. I have always used it at f5. 2 1/2" at threads, 5 1/2" tall. The focus knob is present but only has one original screw. There is some masking tape residue on the cone and a dent (see photos for all 3 'conditions'). There is a decrepit leather cap you can have, but it is falling apart.

I'd say that 75% of the photos I've ever taken that I liked were taken with this one lens. I'm so used to it and so comfortable with it, it's time to move on.

PRICE: $875

Smaller Darlot:

About 7 1/2 - 7 3/4" focal length, 8" image circle; f4.3. About 2 1/2" at threads. I'm including a non-original flange that works if you need it - 3" diameter on flange; 4" tall Price: $275

Large French:

9" back focus, 11" center; covers whole plate; f5; 4" at flange, 5 1'2" high
Missing a screw - see photo. Price: $220

Small French:

Approx 6" focal length, 6" image circle, f3.5. Small chip on the edge of the rear element. It is along the edge and will not affect photos, 1mm separation in front. Price: $140

Only the Darlot 'Cone' remains in this group. Since most are sold, it is subject to immediate withdrawal from sale. If you want it, ask before I change my already-ambivalent mind.... Cheers, Richard
