I tested it recently and the readings were identical to my new Sekonic L558R Spotmeter.

What type of batteries does it take?

I pulled this from the manual. "The Spotmeter V uses three G-13 alkaline or equivalent 1.5V silver-oxide batteries"

I was using three Energizer 357 batteries, but there are numerous 1.55v batteries you can use.
