FS: NOS Chamonix 045N-1 4x5 Field Camera Walnut/Titanium - Minor Cosmetic Damage
OK, lets start with the bad news. This camera was purchased directly from Chamonix back when I was attempting to become a Chamonix dealer. I purchased several of these cameras at that time and this one arrived with a defect. One of the coil springs for the back was defective - it was too short. At that time, rather than ship it back for China for repair, I attempted to repair it myself. I just thought the spring had popped off and didn't realize that it was too short. Long story short, in attempting to repair the camera with the defective spring, I bungled things up and caused some damage to the beautiful walnut wood around the spring mounting hole.

So, there is sat, for all these years, until last week when I received the correct replacement spring from the Chamonix factory. I installed the spring (which was a piece of cake, with the proper replacement part) and the camera is now 100% functional and ready for use. However, the cosmetic damage I caused it still present and visible. Let's start with a couple photos that show the damage:

Overall shot of the back:

Closer shot of the damaged area:

Please note, although the damaged area is in the bottom right corner of these photos, when the back is installed on the camera, with the film holders inserted from the right, the damaged area will be located in the top right corner.

OK, that's the bad news, now the good...

Other than the cosmetic damage, this camera is identical to the one I sold a little over 2 years ago. I priced that one at $750 + shipping and it sold within 9 minutes, which remains a personal record for me.

Because of the minor cosmetic damage (which does not impact functionality or usability in any way), I am pricing this one at $700 + shipping. Let's see if this one lasts longer than 9 minutes...

Here's more details and some photos from that previous sale:

For Sale is one NOS (New Old Stock) 4x5 Chamonix 045N-1 Field Camera. This is in the somewhat rare, and long discontinued Walnut wood with the titanium (gray) color metal finish. Because it arrived with a broken spring, this camera has never been used, had a lens mounted on it, or a film holder inserted in the back. It has sat stored in it's original box since new and was only recently taken out of the box to order the replacement spring and repair the back. Other than the cosmetic damage described and pictured above, it is in like new condition. It comes in the original box with the original padded camera wrap.

This one comes with the wonderful universal bellows that lets you use lenses from 58mm - 450mm (with the optional, but not included bed extension accessory). This is a beautifully made, wonderfully functional, lightweight camera. If you've long wanted a Chamonix, here's your chance to get one in the beautiful Walnut wood with titanium color metal hardware.

Note: the rest of these photos are from my previous sale. Other than the cosmetic damage described above, the two cameras are identical.

Had I the spare funds, I'd buy this to have as a twin sister to mine. It's a gorgeous camera.

Minor price drop to $700 shipped to any US address. That will save you about $20 - $25 depending on location.

Thanks,
Kerry
