Hate to do this, but this magnificent baby has been warming my cabinet.
I have owned it for almost 4 years and it just does not see enough use for me to justify keeping it.
What is awesome is I got it serviced by Nikon in October 2015 and it has a brand new SW motor and also has a newly serviced helicoid. I can share receipts to prove the same. I have not used the lens on a trip even once after the repair. I now have the 200-500 and frankly the 500mm F4, awesome lens that it is, is a PITA to carry around on long trips.
Glass is clean. Cosmetically it has a few blemishes and some paint loss as is evident from the pictures. The rubber filter ring also has some minor tears...nothing that impacts it's functionality.
More pictures and RAW files shot with the lens: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwbO4C-5GLgNZ0hTalJTbk56S1U?usp=sharing
I spent ~ $500 on the repair and this lens would be as good as a new one and will serve you for many many years to come.
Included in the price is an Aquatech Lens Hood and the CT-502 hard case (which in itself is hard to find). I bought this brand new when I purchased the 500mm F4:

The RRS lens plate is not included.
PRICE: $3000 NET to me (excluding shipping and Paypal). I will consider all reasonable offers.
I also have a Nikon D3 for sale. If you take both, I will discount the D3.
