Manfrotto Triman Tripod - USD 100 (plus shipping)
This is the early model of this tripod, simply named "Triman" with no other designation. Information on the later models indicate that they are intended for the studio, but I used this for quite a while as a field tripod for 8x10, not realizing the error of my ways. It easily carries my 8x10 Kodak Master camera and I would bet that it would also handle 11x14 without argument. This is a great tripod for starting out in large format.
With no extensions, the tripod is about 30 inches from the ground to the head mount plate. Extending the extra single leg raises it to 49 inches. With full extension on the legs, the height is about 69". There is also a geared column (very handy) which raises the head mount plate to an additional 19.5 inches. Thus the maximum height is about 88 inches or just a little over 7 ft.
It is not a light tripod (about 8 lbs) but I carried it just about everywhere except deep woods. . On the other hand, even brisk winds have no impact on it if it is set up properly. It has a shoulder strap (see photo, red velvet not included
) to assist.
Each leg has an adjustable tip (sharp, for working on ground; rubber where you don't want to scratch the floor).
The tripod is in excellent mechanical condition and in fair cosmetic condition. It has lots of scrapes and chips, none of which affect its performance.
This is part of my spring cleaning project and I need to get it out of the house, so if you want it, don't hesitate.
