I am selling my wonderful Linhof Technika V kit, complete with three lenses, pinhole lens, sports finder, new gg, original fresnel, 6 double-sided holders, polaroid holder, lens wrench and Mod54 developing set. Everything you need is here except film, a light meter and a tripod.

The camera is an early Tech V - it has the pull-out ratchet arm rather than the later kind that turns over. It has a Steve Hopf ground glass as well as an original Linhof fresnel. The ground glass is new and in mint condition but the fresnel has some wear and tear. I have tried to show this clearly in one of the photos. It is still very effective and you don’t really see the marks when you are focusing. The combo of the Hopf and the fresnel is very bright and contrasty. The Hopf glass has a half-inch grid as well as corner markings for 6x7, 6x9, and 4.25x3.25 (the size of Fuji medium format instant film, for use with a Polaroid 405 back). I like working with instant film so I had the GG marked this way when I ordered it.
The camera also has a sports finder set: the viewfinder that slides into the show and the matching wire finder that folds down and stores inside the camera. The tan leatherette is in perfect condition and there are no significant marks on the exposed metal. The black leather handle is new, installed last year with new hardware from the Linhof dealer in Toronto. Even the rubber eyecup on the RF is like new. The bellows are in good shape for their age (they are likely original.) They are still pliable and don’t leak at any extension. You may want to plan on replacing them after four or five more years of regular use. The leather on the focusing hood is in excellent condition.
The focusing bed features three sets of infinity stops (green, red and black) as well as distance scales for 75mm, 135mm and 250mm. The round holder for the cable release is present (to be used with the anatomical grip, should you wish to add one later). The camera has a 210mm cam installed, which lets it close properly (Technikas with RF need to have a cam installed or the RF connection arm gets in the way of closing the bed.) There is a spare 240mm cam included.
All latches, cams, focusing gears, spring locks, rods, sliders and other mechanical features work flawlessly and smoothly, and the GG registration is perfect. The camera was given a complete CLA two years ago by Cameraworks in Barrie, Ontario. At that time the felts in the spring back were replaced with a foam substitute that should last for many years. However I kept the original felts that were removed and they are included in case you ever want to reinstall them (but honestly, the foam is really high grade.) I am including an Arca-style plate that has an anti-twist flange.
The RF works great. About 2 years ago I had a nice 150mm lens with a matched cam for Tech V or Master. (Tech IVs and earlier needed to have the cams matched to the lens AND the camera, but from V onward they are supposed to be transferable from camera to camera, and wouldn’t you know it turns out to be true!) I ended up selling that lens but I used it a few times first and the RF focus matched the GG at all distances.
The camera does NOT include the 135mm lens that is shown mounted to it in the photos. That lens just sold to another member who had posted a WTB ad for something in that focal length. However this sale does include three lenses as follows:
- 75mm f/4.5 Rodenstock Grandagon “Linhof select”, mounted in an original Linhof recessed board, with a cable release extender (I put those on all my lenses to save wear and tear on the cable threads on the shutter itself.) This lens is in perfect condition optically and mechanically, and cosmetically it has only the typical handling marks to show that it is not new. It includes one Rodenstock cap and one Schneider cap.
- 90mm f/4.5 Sinar Sinaron-W Green Stripe, mounted in a Toyo branded Technika style board, with cable release extender. This is a rebranded Rodenstock lens. It is in immaculate condition in all ways, and includes the original Sinar branded caps.
- 210mm f/6.7 Fujinon-W, mounted in a generic Technika style board, with cable release adapter. Yes, this is the original version with the 398mm image circle, covering 8x10 handily. It is optically and mechanically perfect, however it has clearly taken an impact on the edge of the rear barrel at some point in its life. I can tell you from experience that this has had NO effect on its performance. The lens comes with the original Fujinon lens caps.
Also included, for fun, is a 0.35mm pinhole lens that is made from a Canon pinhole lens cap permanently glued into the hole of a Technika board. The relative aperture values for different focal lengths are listed on the face of the board. These lenses are packed in a Porta-Brace hard shell case with cut-outs in the foam for two more lenses on Technika boards, plus a space for the pinhole lens, filters and other bits and pieces. It also contains a re-chargeable desiccant tin, which will keep the contents of the case safe from humidity and other evil spirits.
Lastly, this sale includes six double-sided film holders, a Polaroid 545 holder, an S.K. Grimes lens wrench (blade-ended version) in original box, and a Mod54 developing kit with the appropriate Paterson tank.
Price is $2550 shipped (CONUS) plus paypal fees (I am also open to a check or local pickup here in Tempe, Arizona.) I have excellent feedback on ebay as username “saramago1” and on the Large Format Photography Forum under username “at680”. Breaks my heart to have to sell it but there you have it.
