405mm Kodak Portrait Lens. 16 inches of vintage loveliness, an f/4.5 soft-focus portrait lens. This is a big lens. Diameter is 5 inches. But despite its size, it's relatively light at 4.66 pounds, owing mostly to the fact that there is no front element (by design). Coverage is massive. It will actually light up my 12x20, corner to corner. 11x14 is no sweat. And clearly 8x10 is fully covered.
Condition is immaculate. The glass is clear and very clean. The iris operates smoothly, stopping down to f/45. Cosmetic condition is beautiful. This lens has seen very little use and that shows in the luster of the finish on the barrel and the complete absence of any dings, dents or wear marks.The original flange is included as is the original Kodak spun aluminum felt-lined lens cap.There is no shutter; this is a barrel lens. 11x14 wet plate? No problem! Simply use that big, beautiful lens cap. 8x10 head & shoulder shots? No problem.Get yourself a Packard shutter.
But it needs to be a large one. The barrel is 5 inches in diameter; the aperture is 3 1/2 inches. 405mm at ƒ/4.5 - Do the arithmetic.
