This is a sturdy piece of mahogany and two brass brackets that originally came from the rear standard of a Kodak 2D 8x10 camera. It could be made into a sliding tripod block by adding a 1/4" socket, or fastening a quick release plate to it. A simple clamp could be used to keep it from moving on the rail once the camera is balanced.
