Up for grabs are three items: an imperfect Ilex No 5 Universal Synchro shutter, and two lenses that will mount into this shutter: the 375mm Caltar lens that was originally mounted in the shutter, and a 480mm Apo-Nikkor lens for which someone (not me) made adapters to allow the lens to be mounted into this shutter.
So, what's an "imperfect" Ilex 5? Every once in a while, the blades of this shutter do not close properly - they leave a tiny opening for light to get through. Exercising the shutter just now, they failed to close on the 13th snap, and then again on the 9th snap. When I used this shutter, I'd trigger the shutter with a cable release, then quickly cover the lens with a dark cloth. After putting the darkslide back in, I'd take away the dark cloth and look to see if the shutter had malfunctioned. I never did lose a shot with this shutter, but it's not the way I want to live. I had the shutter CLA's a few years ago (for the same reason), and it worked well for some time, but has gone back to its' evil ways. I got a deal on the CLA because I brought in several shutters at a slack time of the year, but I'm not going to bother doing it again.

The 14 3/4" (375mm) f:6.3 Ilex-Calumet Caltar lens was Calumet's bid to get customers who couldn't afford 14" Commercial Ektars. It's quite a decent lens - a Tessar design - with tremendous coverage. I remember taking a 12x20 photo with it, and finding little if any falloff.
The 480mm Apo-Nikkor f:9 lens is a legendary sharpy. Who made these adapters, I could not say; looks like an in-house industrial job, though - smooth threads, but ugly paint job. I've used this lens on 12x20 with movements.
OK, what's a deal like this worth? I dunno. Take it all for $400 + shipping. Paypal accepted.
