Ths is an early model Helios lens in M42 mount. If it has any coatings, I don't see them, so this baby rocks for B&W. It comes on a beater Canon FTb w/ an adapter, but is available by its lonesome, or I can sell it as a combo.

The lens had a little haze but I cleaned it up nicely. Very clean glass inside and out, w/ some of the usual light cleaning marks on the front. Not many though, and they have no effect on anything. Smooth focus, snappy aperture blades, and best of all, this early model lens has a switch on the side so that you can shoot it in stop down mode on different cameras w/o disabling the pin on the back. Takes great photos w/ the old school swirley bokeh.

The M42 to FD adapter is a cheapo Chinese adapter that works perfectly. The FTb camera has had the shutter speeds adjusted, and the exposures are on the money w/ no shutter capping. But the meter is dead, as is the frame counter. It has quite a ding on the top. A little bondo would get it fixed up, but I liked shooting it like it is.

US sale only, please. The lens is $50, the adapter is $8, and the FTb is available only as a combo. Figure $70 for everything. Shipping would be $6 for the lens, $5 for the adapter, and $14 for the everything combo, and it's all shipped by insured priority mail.

This is a 1980 lens (serial number starts with 80) and should be multicoated. I have the same lens in a 82 serial number. Its very hard to see the coating reflections unless you angle it just right. These lenses are fantastic - I prefer it to my Jena Biotar.

Thanks for the info. I used to have a later model, and the coatings were very obvious on that one. Don't really see any on this one, but what the heck, as you say, it's a really good lens. In a shootout, it made much nicer images than the newer lens (and that one also didn't have the swirley bokeh like this one).

Bump.

Price reduced to $40 for the lens (a steal), $5 for the M42 to FD adapter, and $50 for the lens, adapter and camera.
