I regret to say that I must sell my very complete Hasselblad 501C kit which includes three lenses, two backs, body/wlf plus accessories (details below). Everything is in outstanding mechanical and optical condition, and most of it is in excellent cosmetic condition as well. There are some normal handling marks here and there that have no impact whatsoever on performance, and the spare back looks like it has seen hard service but it was recently re-built by a certified Hasselblad factory tech in Canada (Joe Vieira in Toronto) and is good for at least another decade of steady use. My preference is to sell this all as one purchase so I’m not open to breaking it up unless that proves impossible. My asking price is $2550 USD shipped within CONUS + paypal fees (I am also open to a check or local pickup here in Tempe, Arizona.) I have excellent feedback on ebay as username “saramago1” and on the Large Format Photography Forum under username “at680”.

The core of the kit is a black 501C body with matching A12 back and 80mm/2.8 modern C Planar lens. The black A12 back has a non-matching insert: it was accidentally mixed up with one from a similar back, which I later sold. It works perfectly though and there are no issues whatsoever. This back and its current insert were also fully serviced by Joe when the spare one (mentioned above) was done. At that time aftermarket slide holders were added to both backs, which is a nice convenience. The slide holders are very securely mounted. The focusing screen is model 42204 - acute matte D with very fine cross-hairs and no circle or prism. The screen is in immaculate condition and was professionally cleaned by the same tech who worked on the A12 backs. The body and WLF are beautiful and show only the most minor handling marks from careful use. The lens is a “modern” C (i.e. same barrel and mechanics as the CF lenses which came immediately after) and is in perfect mechanical, optical and cosmetic condition. It has always had a B&W UV filter attached as protection, via a bayonet-to-67mm adapter. Both the filter and adapter are included. The lens cap is a Nikon 67mm, and a proper Hasselblad front cap is also included as well as an aftermarket square bayonet lens hood. The lens hood mounts over top of the filter stack so it can be used as normal without removing the filter and its adapter. Lastly, I installed a Markins Arca-compatible bottom plate in place of the original plate, so you can mount the camera directly to any Arca tripod clamp without additional pieces. This sale includes the box for the Markins plate, as well as the original Hasselblad plate and screws in case you want to return it to its original condition. The camera also features a beautiful hand made strap by Artisan & Artist, which is included.

Included also is a spare chrome A12 back, which as mentioned before was fully rebuilt recently and which had the slide holder added. This back is showing its age cosmetically though mechanically it is like new. A previous owner had two v-shaped notches filed into the mask so that these marks show up on the negative outside the image area (in the “rebate”). This was done so that you can tell from the negs which back they came from. This helps diagnose any problems you might have down the road and also can help with record keeping if you like to keep very specific details about your shoots.

There are two additional lenses as part of this kit. The first is the 50mm f/4 Distagon CF. It is in perfect condition and works flawlessly. It includes both caps and an aftermarket hood. The second lens is the 120mm f/4 Marko-Planar - this is a very sought-after lens that is a fantastic length for portraits or close landscapes and which also focuses close enough to let you get very intimate with your subject without needing to resort to extension tubes. It is optically flawless, and the only thing that is not functionally perfect about this is that the EV scale interlock button doesn’t work. This is not an uncommon problem but since it doesn't affect the use of the lens I never bothered to have it corrected. The Makro-Planar also shows a bit more in the way of handling marks at the bayonets from mounting but in most respects it is in great condition. Both lenses come in LowePro lens cases that I have labeled with their focal length. These cases have a mesh pocket under the lid into which I have always placed a re-chargeable desiccant canister to prevent condensation and ward off other evil spirits that can damage lens optics and mechanics. These desiccants are included and I recommend that you re-charge them whenever the orange color fades from the beads, following the instructions embossed on the tins. I hope these are a clue as to how carefully I have taken care of all of my gear.

Also included are a number of useful accessories. First up is a metered 45-degree prism made by Kiev Cameras in the Ukraine. It fits properly and is a widely-used and less expensive alternative to genuine Hassy metered prisms. The meter works well and is accurate, the prism is in like-new condition and it includes the base cover and the rubber eye-cup. Next is a stainless steel shutter tool. This looks like a pencil and has special slotted ends that let you wind the shutter of a lens manually in case you ever mount an un-wound lens onto a wound body. They will not mate properly and you won’t be able to remove the lens or use the camera unless you have one of these tools. This is a hazard of using any mechanical Hasselblad and all owners should have one of these. I am also including the spirit level that slides onto the horizontal mounting plate on the left side of the camera body (found on most Hasselblads from the 500CM onward). This is a handy thing to have especially when shooting the 50mm, where it is sometimes difficult to confirm whether you are level on the focusing screen alone. You can use your Hasselblad lenses on any Canon EOS body with the included lens adapter. The adapter is in like-new condition and has a programmable EOS chip attached so that you can get autofocus confirmation. It also holds the Hasselblad body cap that goes with the 501C body, and has an EOS lens cap on the other end. It also features an anti-twist Arca plate attached to the mounting foot so you can use it easily with any Arca tripod clamp. And the last sundry item is an original nylon and leather Hasselblad shoulder strap.

The camera fits in the included LowePro shoulder bag which has been amazing to use in the field or just wandering around the city with my camera. The whole camera with any of the lenses will fit in, and if you have the 80 or the 50 mounted you can leave the lens hood on and it will all fit into the holster. The bag has a front pocket that has enough room for a spare back, a few rolls of film and a light meter…more or less everything you would need for a nice day out with your new camera! The bag is in excellent condition.

RE-OPENING THIS THREAD!

OK this complete kit is back on the block for $2000 to me (net of pp fees and shipping). Shipping in CONUS is probably less than $75 for standard, traceable, fully insured parcel post. All destinations will be at cost, whatever that will work out to at the time of the sale. The 50mm and 120mm lenses are listed separately and if they sell I will consider selling the core camera set and accessories at an appropriate price. But until those two lenses sell the rest of it is not available on its own. Thanks!!
