Gossen called this meter the LunaSix 3 in the US, and Luna Pro in Europe. They called it that long before there was an EU. I learned photography in HS 50 years ago using this meter, and have loved it ever since. At one point, I had as many as four of them. They're all sold off now; this is the last one I own. I never thought I'd sell it, but I was looking to lighten the camera bag, and have to admit I haven't used this meter in a couple of years. Reality trumps emotions.

If you're looking for a low-light conditions meter, this is the one for you. Its sensitivity is legendary.

What you're getting is a well-functioning LunaSix 3 light meter with the Gossen battery adapter (currently $59.99 at B&H) that allows you to use modern silver oxide, non-mercury batteries. I just put a couple brand new German Varta 357's in this meter. Buying them singly will cost you $5 at the drugstore; I get them 10 at a time on eBay. Way cheaper.

Also included is a leather protective case (originally from a Luna Pro). This is the best case I've come across - thicker leather than the other LunaSix/Pro cases I've had. This is important, because I've had the top on the thinner leather ones break off. When you open the case to take a quick reading, you push the top down out of the way. The repeated flexing of the leather at the flex point causes it to crack and break. Doesn't happen with the thicker case. Also, this case has a snap on the retaining strap, which makes it a lot easier to take the meter out of the case. Other cases have the retainer strap riveted in place.

As far as accuracy goes, this meter reads a half-stop higher than the Sekonic I use. It's consistent, and reads that way either in reflective or incident. Take a couple of pictures and you'll figure out how it fits into your way of meter reading.

One last thing: these meters have a battery test switch on the back. Pushing it causes the meter needle to head towards a red ("good") zone on the face. With silver oxide batteries, I've never had the needle go to the middle of the zone, as it used to with mercury batteries. The best it does is get to the left edge.

So, what's this end-of-an-era meter worth? I dunno. Let's say $75 + $5 for domestic USPS Priority Mail. That's like buying the adapter and getting a backup meter for $15. Paypal accepted.

Another day, another price drop. I guess eventually we'll find out what this is worth.

Now $65, domestic shipping included.
