I have too much enlargers and darkroom stuff.
If you are in Montreal area or a reasonable driving distance, it will be a pleasure to make exchange or sell at reasonnable cost some very fine enlargers and darkroom items that cannot be shipped or that shipping is too expensive.
I have two Durst 138S and two Beseler 45 that I can let it go to have some place to work in my second darkroom. Complete and with a lot of accessories in both cases.
Durst 138 can be equipped with the Ilford 500 head with the special adapter for it, this will permit the use of the condensers and can cover 5x7. I got all: enlarger, adapter, Ilford 500 kit.
For the Beseler, I have the Beseler original condenser head, Ilford 500 head with the Beseler adapter and Beseler recessed boxes. I have also a Zone VI coldlight and their compensating timer.
I can deliver theses enlargers easily in Montreal area or we can make arrangements for longer distances.
You can PM me or email me through the forum. If you wish to refer me to other people interested, they can contact me through my website http://ginetteclement.com
Serious buyers can came home and see the stuff. / Acheteur sérieux seulement svp.

The two Durst 138 are spoken for as well as the Ilford 500 head system and the adapter for mounting it on the Durst 138.
Buyers will have the first choice on the Durst accessories : carriers, original glasses, Lapfe, Lapla, bulbs, variac, etc.
Also on other darkroom stuff: easel, print washer, drums, film tanks, etc. I will post what will be available later.

The 2 Beseler45 are still available. This is the all black model. Maybe a price will help to have interest to them. 150$ (CAN) for the standard condenser head and 3 standards carriers, the size you wish.
Complete with the heat absorption glass, the filter drawer with the plexi holder, the white baseboard (at least one). Motor and all mechanisms supposed to work correctly, I will test them carefully and can send pictures if you are interested to buy. Actually the condensers heads are stored in boxes, not on the enlargers, so please serious buyers only.
I have also glass carriers, Negatrans, lensboards and lenses if you need and a lot of various darkroom equipment.
As for the Durst, buyers have first choice on equipment.
I can deliver easily in the Montreal area.

Hi Ginette

What are the Beseler enlarger models exactly - which version and are they fully functional - lamp - lens - baseboard - motor etc and is there a ballpark cost?

Thanks

Hello firefli,

I took some pictures!
First 2 images is head up and down, motor work correctly.
#3 is the model at right 45MXII
#4 is the enlarger at left 45MCRX, this one have a switch like illustrated in #5 picture.
Picture #6 is the 45MXII head assembly, retaining bracket and condenser ar there, head is picture #9
Picture #7 is the 45MCRX and it head and condenser appear on picture #8.
Picture #10 is a Resistrol that probably go with the 45MCRX as it is marked as 150W max.
I don't have the right lamps for theses but it is probably not expensive lamps. I plug a standard bulb on the socket and both lamp up correctly.
If something missing with the Resistrol, please advice, I have probably the parts in other boxes.
I have only one baseboard, probably interchangeable so I will put on the model you wish.

Price indicated is 150$ CAN for the enlarger, condenser head and 3 carriers at your choice, I think I have all size from 35mm to 4x5. Glass model or Negatrans with a little extra. I have probably also a Negaflat.
Sorry for the dirty, I will clean it. I covered them at home but previous owner didn't do!
Let me know if you are interested.
Where are you located?

Hi Ginette

I'm in the Montreal area too. Thanks for the pictures. Have you used the 45MCRX - is it aligned?

Thanks

I don't use any of them. It came from the equipment I acquired from a custom B&W lab here in Montreal 3-4 years ago. The lab guy was very honest with me so if the Beseler was not good he didn't include it in the sale.
I setup the Durst but not the Beseler. I have too much Durst anyway for my own usage so I resell 2 of theses too.
I don't see any parts in the Beseler that look twisted or damaged. In my opinion, alignment need to be done when you will set it in your darkroom. If I do it here and move it to your home, this will probably desalign it.

Email me and we can talk over the phone. Is it the 45MCRX the more recent model? I was thinking that it was the 45MXII.
For the lamps, if it take the same lens as the Beseler 23CII, I have probably some spairs.
Do you want both, one in condenser mode and one with a cold light.

ok Thanks Ginette I neeed to research - I'm new to theses Beselers - I had an Omega C760 a long time ago and didn't think I would go back to enlargers since I am using Linux (Hugin and Darktable - hope I didn't break any APUG laws by saying that) after taking multiple shots of a 4x5 negative with a digital camera. Thank you for anwering my questions.

Beseler manual for MX serie http://backglass.org/duncan/darkroom/beseler_45mxt.pdf
MX brochure http://www.jollinger.com/photo/cam-coll/manuals/enlargers/beseler/Beseler_45MX_Brochure.pdf

From this page http://www.jollinger.com/photo/enlargers/beseler-45.html
Beseler has a naming scheme for most of their enlargers which describes the features of the machine. E.g. a 45MXC is a 4x5 enlarger chassis with a motorized colorhead and extra support truss.
•Two-digit number — the max size of the negative it can accept (e.g. 23 is 2cm x 3cm, 66 is 6cm x 6cm, 45 is 4x5 inches, etc.)
•M — electric motor to raise and lower the lamphouse
•C — Beseler colorhead (filter drawer type)
•R — Resistrol unit (variable voltage regulator)
•X — Rear support truss (extra reinforcement)
•AF — Automatic focus
•B — Beslite (flourescent cold-light head)
•AG — Beseler-Agra colorhead (continuously variable filter type)
Lamp is PH212 150w 10$ each. I don't have, not the same as my 23CII

If someone have or see somehere a tabletop for a Durst 138, I have another enlarger but without the tabletop. Let me know.

When buyers will have pickup, I will list what I still have as accessories and others darkroom items.

Members PM answered about Beseler accessories.

The complete Beseler 45MCRX is still available.
Also I found the missing tabletop for the Durst 138 so I have now a third complete Durst 138 to sell. For the Durst, I will wait that the enlargers was sold to list the accessories. I wish to give first choice to the Durst enlargers buyers.
For the Beseler, I have a lot of carriers, so you can ask now if you need some.

The Beseler45 is sold.

The Durst 138 is still available. This is the older model with manual foot, fixed triple turret and wood baseboard.
In really good esthetic and mechanical condition: 300$ (CAN) head complete with the lamp mechanism, 150W G40 lamp (new in box), the heat filter, mirror, filter drawer with a set of Ilford filters (cut to the right size), 2x 240mm condensers, basic nega 138 carrier, all items as illustrated in my latest post.
I have additional condensers (160 but glass chipped, 130 and 85) and Lapla available for this enlarger, maybe some lenses if you need.

I still have the Durst 138 for sale.
You cannot go wrong with this Durst, a very good choice for 4x5 and 5x7 and enought solid to be modified for 8x10.
Another interesting avenue is the Ilford 500 head over this enlarger. An eBay seller duplicate the original Ilford adapter for the Durst 138 so the Ilford head is used with the Durst condensers so the ilford head cover 5x7 in this set-up.

Same price 300$ (canadians) so 250$ US. If some members near the US border are interested, I can meet you there. I cannot really goes lower than that for a complete enlarger for the items listed!
Or 400$ for the same items listed, the additional condensers (160, 130 and 85) and a Rodagon 210mm (latest design) but scratched (on both front and back lens, not heavy scratches but visibles) and the Lapla 58mm needed to mount this lens (Lapla is like new).

If you don't know this model, here the 2 manuals available online for the Durst 138

I have too much enlargers and darkroom stuff.

Or I'd get the Durst! Since I already have one stored, seems kind of silly for me. Great enlarger and they're going to get harder and harder to find! Most of the ones from labs going digital have already been landfilled. Far superior to any 4x5 enlarger I can think of, plus it will handle 5x7. L

Hi Luis, someone in Ottawa contact me about so maybe this 138 will have a new home.
When I entered the NUARC 32-1KS unit, nothing can be placed in the darkroom like before. This thing take the same place as a Durst 184!
So with the 2 Durst 184, I decide to keep only one Durst 138. As I discover that I have the Ilford 500 adapter for it so with only one, I will be able to use the condensers with the Ilford head over it or to switch easily to cold light with the Aristo D57 without need to remove an replace another head.
Beside the Durst 138, I will place a Beseler 45 that will operate a Ilford head in diffusion mode. On the Durst 138, the Ilford head will be use with the condensers. I still shoot 120 film with a Noblex so I will have thèses 2 enlargers for smallers formats. I have also the Aristo VCL4500 that I can mount on the Beseler45.
For the two Durst 184, I have the D1414 and VCL8100 coldlights. I will like to found an Ilford head for the 8x10 so 1 with a coldlight and one with the Ilford head 500HLE. I don't have the ceiling height to run the condenser head or a color head on the Durst 184. The other color head could be the DeVere (like yours) that look pretty much lower than the Durst color head with the big diffusion box.
So I think that I will be safe for my old days with the 4 enlargers I decide to keep!

Durst still available

The Durst 138 is still available.
Really clean and fully operational.
You need only 81" of clearance to run this model and the baseboard can goes as low as 12" from the floor. 32" large x 34"deep till the wall is the space of the baseboard. This model can be easily moved and toss in a corner when not in use.

Here some additional pictures.

300$ for the enlarger, carrier, 2x240mm condensers (perfect, no chips), filter drawer and an Ilford multigrade set.
400$ for the same items, plus 3 condensers 160mm (big chip), 130 (2 very little chips) and a 85mm. I will include a Rodagon 210mm (latest version but with scratches in front and back) with the Lapla needed for this lens (58mm).
