SOLD-Here is a freshly completed 6x12 Zeiss conversion that includes lens and finder and is ready to shoot right out of the box.

I've been building 4x5 and Pano cameras for over ten years and have been making this particular Zeiss conversion since 2016. I'm particularly fond of this camera as its provides a super low cost, ready to shoot 6x12 camera that is durable and built to withstand professional use.

This camera starts out as a vintage Zeiss folder and after my conversion yields six 6x12 frames on a roll of 120 film. OK...technically it shoots 6x11, but it's a fantastic format that is just pano enough for use in just about every situation.

Before building the camera it is stripped down to bare metal, cleaned and recovered with modern, laser cut leather. The focusing helical is indexed for scale focusing (or zone focusing) at infinity, 20 feet, 12 feet and 6 feet and the modern 21mm Voighlander finder has been masked to the same 2:1 ratio the camera shoots.

Unlike custom cameras that use 3D printed parts or complete 3D printed cameras (which do offer a lot of different options) this camera is built to withstand daily usage and regular travel of a working professional photographer. Stainless steel hardware is used throughout the build and during final construction every joint is covered both on top and bottom with a metal epoxy to insure nothing will back out, shift or loosen over time. The wooden front plate is primed, painted and baked to insure a lasting finish.

The only use of 3D printing are the four spindle adapters (that are available here on eBay) that are used to make up the difference in size between the larger 116 spool openings in the camera and the smaller 120 film spools.

There are couple black and white screen grabs from camera tests that will so you can see the angle of view the 65mm lens gives you on 6x12. It's quite nice!

These things are gorgeous.

Whoever buys this please run some 16mm through it and post the results.

I recently sold a camera out of this same batch to someone overseas who has short ends of IMAX film from Dunkirk that he is loading onto the original 116 reels to shoot in the camera. I can’t wait to see his results!

Can this friend um...hook someone I know up with some of them there short-ends?

What's it like shooting 70mm film in this camera? Do you get coverage to the edge of the film? Or something like a 56mm high image as on 120 film?

The way the camera is made you will get the the same 6x11 with either 120 or the IMAX film. I add rails to the top and bottom of the film gate to support the smaller 120 film going through the camera. If you were going to shoot only the respooled 65mm film, I guess you would not need the additional brass supports that I add because the film would lay in the original guides for the 116 film which would then give you a 6 1/2 x 11 negative.

I’ve heard that anything under 500 feet Nolan calls a short end so I would imagine there is a good amount of this stuff out there. I can ask him if he will sell any if you want (especially if that means you’ll buy the last camera of the bunch

Thanks, I don't think I'll be buying the last camera of the bunch though but you never know...
