I'm selling this truly excellent 40mm Rodagon-WA enlarging lens. The glass is clean and clear without fungus, haze, or any marks I can see, and the aperture mechanism works smoothly in all modes. While I have not subjected it to examination under a microscope, it does not appear to have been used. I bought it some time ago but as I haven't shot 35mm in years and don't have any negatives from the old days that I want to enlarge big I don't think I'll ever use it. It's in the original protective plastic case and includes the original front cap and retaining ring.
The Rodagon-WA family cover a larger film area than you might expect based on their focal length and enable you to make bigger prints for a given enlarger column height. The 40mm covers the standard 35mm format (24mm x 36mm) and is specified for enlargement ratios from 4x to 20x, with optimum performance at 10x (but it doesn't vary much over the full range). Bob Salomon, who worked for Rodenstock's US rep before his retirement, has stated more than once that the Rodagon-WA line was just one tiny performance step below the top-of-the-line Apo-Rodagon-N family.
You can still special-order a new 40mm Rodagon-WA from B&H for $612.99 (see the last picture, a screenshot snipped today, April 12 2021), or you can buy this one for $115 shipped to your US door. Or you can watch eBay and wait, the WAs aren't all that common. PayPal OK.
I'd like to stay away from international sales for the time being as shipping is expensive and glacially slow in these Covid times - in early March I received a couple of items shipped to me from eBay sellers in Germany in late October!
Sorry about any dust in the pictures. I don't live in a dust-free universe and no matter how often I blow it off a few specs manage to arrive before I can release the shutter.
