I'm continuing the glacially-slow selling of lenses I really don't need with this nice multi-coated 240mm f/5.6 Schneider Symmar-S in a modern-style Copal 3. Schneider's literature quotes an f/22 image circle of 337mm, which will allow for a bit of movement on 8x10, 7x11, or 5x12. At almost 35 years old (the serial number dates it to late 1987 or early 1988) it's not perfect, but it's perfectly usable. Aside from the clearly visible but photographically-unimportant Schneideritis in both cells, it has a very few tiny spots and marks in the coatings, a trifling amount of internal of dust, and signs of use and wear on the barrels and shutter. There are no serious dents or dings and I've verified that 86mm filters screw in smoothly. The lens came to me without caps or retaining ring and that is how you will receive it; the front and rear push-on cap sizes are 90mm and 65mm, respectively. According to my kitchen scale it weighs 915 grams, a bit on the heavy side but not out of line for an f/5.6 240mm Plasmat.

The old Calumet tester tells me that all shutter speeds are quite consistent but a bit slow. The governed speeds (1/15 sec to 1 sec) are all 1/2-stop (40%) slow, for example 1 sec averages 1.42 sec, and the fast speeds are all about 20% (1/4-stop) slow. Copal's specs gave a tolerance of ±30% (a shade over 1/3 stop) for a completely new shutter, so in truth these aren't that far out. You can use it as-is or send it out for CLA.

My asking price of $278 includes PayPal fees and shipping to your US door. US sales only for now, international shipping is expensive and glacially slow in these Covid times - in early March 2021 I received a couple of items shipped to me from eBay sellers in Germany in late October 2020!

Sorry about any surface dust in the pictures. My universe is not dust-free and no matter how often I blow off the dust a few specs manage to arrive before I can release the shutter. And those lovely colored bands in the photos are reflections of the overhead fluorescent lights in my kitchen.
