From the archives: 1982 Brochure for Tachihara 6×9 Wood Field Camera

Hi Everyone,

I found a 1982-vintage flyer for the Tachihara 6×9 camera. This came in the box with my 4×5" Tachihara camera, and which I am embarrassed to say do not use nearly enough. The 6×9 must be an adorable varnished jewel, but I have never seen one.

If anyone here owns one and would like the flyer, let me know. I can easily pop it into an envelope and send it to you.

Ha! I bought my 4x5 Tachi from Lee Beeder in 1982. As I recall it cost $429.00 then, and the brochure was slightly different. A fine camera that I should have kept.

Horsch, what is the purpose of the hinges showing on the rear side of your camera?

if you're looking at the hinges beind the rear tilt lock, some of the Japanese wooden 6x9 cameras has the groud glass on a swing away hinge, since roll film was/is far more common for 6x9 than sheet film, they were designed so the glass swings out of the way so when replacng it with a roll holder you don't have to hold the glass or put it in your pocket. That what I think those hinges are.
