Hello everybody,
My wife is american and she got homesick, so I moved from Paris to LA three years ago.
I am a photographer from Agence VU.
Refusing to go digital, I work less and less for the press to just focus on my work (I do scan, but that's it.) and try to live on "Fine Art". I do mostly urban landscape and portraits now.
I keep one foot in France being the correspondent for some newspapers and magazines. Not news, portrait and stories assignment.
I can't stand to see the computer world taking power of that medium.
I collect cameras like a crazy. My workhorse were for a long time Rolleiflex TLR 3,5F Planar and the amazing 55 Wide. I do Blad too, but I feel so much better with the Rollei.
4x5 and 8x10 came as natural. Starting with an old Linhof long time ago, I now use Toyo in 4x5 and Cambo in 8x10. I sold a Canham 8x10 and it's the most stupid thing I ever did (in the photographic field...).
Found Brooks veriwide here (very rare in France) and enjoy it .
I discovered last year the beauty of 35mm, after 20 years of photography, and shoot with Leica M6. It's so cool to have just a little camera sometime...
Almost monomaniac with Tri-X in all format and lover of the 55PN in 4x5. I try now Bergger, Classic and Efke in case Tri-X disappears. I still have some stock of Verichrome but the end is soon.
The lab is Omega D5 and Durst 138 with cold light. I couldn't move the 184 from my lab in Paris. And I really miss that "Grosse Bertha"...
I print mostly on Agfa and Kentmere. Do Lith on Forte polywarmtone until it last.
I want to go for POP print. I would like to go for Collodion as film is in danger.
As you can see I'm a BW lover.
I am so relieved to have found Freestyle in LA. First it is a place where traditionnal photography equipment doesn't shrink every week (so depressing in the other places). Second, they imported the kentmere line that I was missing so much from France.
I'm very interested by this place, APUG.
IT'S REALLY GOOD TO READ YOU !!!!
