Freezing Liquid Tmax Developer

Hey guys,


So I've got a bottle of Tmax developer concentrate that I've never used or opened. I've been saving it for use with a few rolls of Tmax 3200 that i've got stored away in my freezer in hopes to save them in the future for a special occasion. I've found that the 3200 Tmax film works best when paired with the Tmax developer. Unfortunately the liquid developer that I've got expires this month.

So my question to you guys is this: Can I put a bottle of liquid developer in the freezer like you can with film? If not, I'll probably just mix it up and use it while its still fresh.

Rule of darkroom #1: don't freeze liquid chemicals. Some chemicals might crystallize and never go back into solution. On the other hand, the expiration dates Kodak uses are very conservative. I'm sure it will be fine a year or two past expiration date. If it were a decade old, then I would worry. If unsure, before using the working solution, drop a piece of exposed film into it and see if it darkens in reasonable amount of time.

If I were you, I wouldn't count on TMZ keeping indefinitely, even if stored in a freezer.
