The skeptics probably aren’t potential customers anyway…

I've been relying on Freestyle since I first set foot in the store back in 1972 when I was a HS student from the San Fernando Valley of CA, taking Photo 101 and Journalism class where I was a photographer and cartoonist.
My parents bought me a brand new Minolta SRT-101 and later a Mamiya C33 to further my photographic endeavors.
That Minolta suffered, within 8-months, stripped plastic advance gears twice. Finally, someone came up with metal gearing and a serious design flaw was corrected.
A refurbished camera will have all issues corrected, including new foam seals and in the case of a Canon AE-series body the shutter magnet cleaned and the body properly lubed and tested.
I trust Freestyle to sell something they will stand behind.
Course, they're only as good as who's supplying the "refurbished" cameras...

In early 2000 the term "refurbished" is used mostly by companies selling consumer electronics to check and recondition the items that were purchased and returned within return period. They are mostly protected by same warranty as new. I think it is important that the seller and consumer are on the same page.

Refurbished has always meant that the item was returned for a cause, fully tested for every function instead of sampling some of the tests after repairing the defects and then fully guaranteed as new and sold at below the new price. I learned a lot about refurnished products when I worked at Kodak.

Ok, but these are 40+ year old cameras so they were not returned to Nikon or Pentax for cause. I guess someone could email Freestyle for clarification.
