This came out of an old AV room being gutted at the institution I work at. I was allowed to take anything I liked as it was all being thrown in a skip. Does anyone want to take this on as a project?

I've bought a new power cable for this and it turns on and lights up fine. The speakers hum and there's a response when I turn the bass knob and microphone knob. When I turn on the film feed there's a squealing sound, perhaps a dry bearing or slipping belt? There's no reels included with this, just the machine and a power cable. I don't have any film to thread through to try it out either.

I haven't gone any further than that. I did have a dream to get into 16mm filming and use this to project Ektachrome which I'm sure would have been amazing. In a moment of clarity I realised I have too many projects and not enough time! This projector is such a huge presence and unbelievably heavy. I can't possibly see how it could be shipped - it would surely fall out of the bottom of any box. Come and get it, please, I'm near J15 of the M40.

Sounds like it needs a bit of lubrication and possibly a new belt.

Wow, this a a super-loaded projector! It has magnetic-stripe recording capabiliteis and, if the "animation" button does what I think it does, can project a frame at a time without burning the film!

Here's a manual for other projectors in the TQI Series; it may offer clues for operation even if it is not the same projector;

What a great projector! Probably one of the last modesl made for Bell & Howell in Japan. Can't tell if it was made by Eiki, Elmo or maybe even Chinon, but its really nice.

I hope you find a good home for it!

PS if you place a Free advertisement on Cinematography.com, it should be gone in a matter of minutes! Lots of UK members there who shoot 16mm...
