I have the exact same enlarger and have replaced the base board similar to what has been done to yours, you will never need another enlarger as you now have the best in the world.

The only thing that wears are the plastic hinges on the negative carrier, shown on your baseboard at full stretch. Every couple of years I replace them by cannibalising Ilford 5 litre fixer bottles for material with some sturdy but sharp scissors and a small drill bit.

I thought I had the alignment pretty good, then one day I managed to pick up a Zigalign (I think that is what it's called). The alignment adjustments required were minimal and I mean minimal, but it did make a difference. These enlargers are the only enlargers I know of that allow one to adjust every aspect of the machine in any way possible, theoretical or otherwise.

So I do have to close the loop here and identify a few things. Yes there was still a free DeVere enlarger, and yes I did grab it off of Doc W. Thanks again!
  • never leave a stone unturned, there may be just something under there.
  • Free isn't really free. I had to get lens boards, master negative carrier and the timer cable, bulbs etc. Spent more on this enlarger than I did on any of my others

Hi, so, did this table and wall-mount contraption come with the enlarger, or is this custom built?

Maybe this image will help, this is a floor model enlarger, braced back to the wall at the top. The white board was stolen from a drafting table and bolted onto the steel frame that the enlarger has built into the table. With the floor model, this board can be moved from the floor level up to about waist level.
