EDIT: It turns out it's not compatible with my computers, so I'll have to pass. Sorry for the confusion.

I have 1. It is not compatible for anything besides XP 32 bit. I had a driver for a bit with Swedish language only but that is no longer available. Not that I could speak the language I just knew what it would do. NOTHING works/available in any language . They were a great scanner in its day BUT.

Well then, simply install XP! You can install it in a sandbox on your machine w/ a dual install and run it that way. Or buy an XP computer for peanuts. We went to a Win 7 computer for the first time and I can't stand it, security breeches be damned. Ordered a nice console from eFlake for $59 shipped, and it was like welcoming an old friend back seeing this thing boot up. This site below gives a tip on running XP as a virtual machine in the last post on the page. The Canon is still a fine scanner (but then I still use an Epson 2450, so there's that aspect). Vuescan should work on 7 and later too.

I do not understand the issue for the 9900F, but I have a much older 8800F and it operates on my Win7 Home 64-bit machine just fine, using Canon MP Navigator v1 software running on a machine in 64-bit mode (not XP emulation mode).

I'm sure Vuescan can drive this thing and so any modern computer will run this scanner.

Now I remember. It wasn't the driver I had problems with it was the scanner itself. Anyone in Vancouver BC have a lid for a 9900F? ;o)

I have a Canoscan 8800F as well, running on a Vista 64 bit machine. Works great with the Canon MP Navigator and also Vuescan.

I had a scanner that wouldnt work on a 64 bit machine at all even with a vitural machine windows xp. I've forgotten any details about it but the orignal drivers were not available online even for sale. vuescan could make it run on a 32 bit only machine running windows 98SE I think. I sold it on ebay for $9.

I remembered!

Acer 2720s, last update to its driver was in 2001 for XP. Benq bought the company and they didnt even know what it was when I contacted the technical department in 2013.

Sometimes the technical stuff just becomes obsolete and hard to make it work.
