Free camera focus test chart ISO 12233

I wanted to be sure to share this, as it has been very useful to me. I was looking around for focus testing charts, something more comprehensive than the small ones I’ve used for years and found this.

ISO 12233 Test Chart

I sent the file to a local print shop and had them make a large copy about 30” wide as well as a more portable 12” version. I had them mount them on foam core. It has been super useful, and it was only about $30. Having a consistent well defined high contrast target makes focus testing much easier. I can shoot a few test frames, duck into the darkroom and 40 minutes later have focus confirmation (or not!).

On the color front, do you find outside of focus testing. Taking test shots against a color checker helpful in color grading?

That is a resolution test chart not a focus test chart. Could be used as such I guess but not what it was intended for.

Glad you liked it! If I shoot color I try to shoot a color checker or at the least a gray card-
It makes the color grading/correction simple. For me, once “normal” gets dialed in changes after that point are much easier to make because I have established a baseline.
