I bought this video when it came out... I have lost it since.

Does anybody know who the person interviewing Fred is??
I think I met him at Jacobs Center the year Brilliant was not available and a substitute was being
sold.

If memory serves I think his name is Bruce Barlow. I'm not sure if I spelled the last name correctly.

Thank you

I met Bruce twice then, once at Jacobs Center and then again at Ted Harris's funeral.

I believe Bruce Barlow is an active APUG member under the handle BBarlow690...

I think you guys need to call Calumet customer service directly.

When Calumet ceased all LF film holder production by shutting down the Fidelity/Lisco/Regal operation I sent them a few enquiring emails regarding 8x10 holders that also went unreplied. But when I called directly and spoke to real people, I got the real story in very good detail.

Maybe customer service only has enough reps to look at email after the phones are handled?

Just ordered a copy. It's always interesting to see these videos, I think, to observe how others work.

I will very often just buy something elsewhere, even at the expense of a higher price, rather than talk to someone on the phone when a company won't answer email.

I'd rather have my skull sawed open and my living brain sandpapered than call and talk to someone I don't know on the phone. Well, maybe not, but close, you get the idea.

I understand your view, Roger, and I run across it a lot in my profession.

However, sometimes emails get so frustratingly difficult and take a long time with many responses back and forth. That's when I pick up the phone and just talk to the people involved, and it's amazing how many misunderstandings are cleared up in a matter of seconds.

I think it's good that we still have both modes of communication, even though the phone can sometimes be unpleasant.

Understood, Roger. But that sword also cuts both directions...

Once I had that person on the phone they probably wished they would have just answered my simple and far more narrowly scoped emails in the first place. It would have saved them 45 minutes of endless follow-up questions by me regarding why Calumet was shutting down film holder production, how that decision came to be, who was responsible for that decision, where photographers were supposed to go now for new holders, did this signal a more general withdrawal from film-based photography, etc., etc., etc.

I was probably their worst nightmare.

But I did manage to get my original questions answered, simply because they could not ignore me on the phone.

It also needs to be said that the multiple individuals I spoke with that day at Calumet were all, each and every one of them, polite, patient, well-intentioned, and more than willing to spend that time with me. It was not in any way an unpleasant or adversarial exchange.

It just would have been far more efficient to have simply answered the original email in the first place.

I tried to buy the DVD twice and run into an error page at the last step before confirming my order. Kind of makes me wonder because I'm very reluctant to enter my credit card number on line but they don't give any choice. Too bad, it is not the first time when we are denied buying stuff online from the USA. Any idea if this DVD sells on a different website?

If you guys can't have it shipped directly, I can make a run to the San Diego location (I should go buy some film from them anyway) and ship them out to whoever needs it at my cost.

It shows as in stock there, so if you're interested, just let me know. It would have to be after a calculus exam happening Wednesday, but I'd be happy to help if possible.

Just bear in mind for folks in other countries that this is Never Twice the Same Color (NTSC!) video. I don't know if it'll be region encoded either.

(I was a TV transmitter engineer for several years and that was our private acronym for NTSC.)

Like Marc, I too would be very grateful to take you up on that offer, Fixcinater, but let's see first if they get back to me.

Thanks.

Well, I'd love to watch it anyway. Not sure if NTSC will work with anything I have in the house. Do you have a player that will work Ian? Or can one use a computer?

I have quite a few DVDs bought in the US and they work fine, only thing is played on a Computer the Regional coding may only allow you to watch a few foreign DVDs and then it locks only allowing DVDs with our Regional coding to be played. There is/was software to get around this.

Just ordered mine. I'm looking forward to viewing it.
About a year and a half ago, I bought a full Zone VI 4x5 camera kit from my local photo shop. The camera is a rebranded Tachihara. Not long afterward, a Zone VI tripod showed up on the local Craigslist and I bought it as well.
