No offense but I don't care for his work at all. The naked ladies are nice but those images are made okay by their bodies. The photographer didn't do them justice. I guess it's just not my cup of tea.

Fair enough, no offence taken, it would be a very odd world if we all liked the same things.

Is he using film? I could not find any info on the tools he is using. I would not really care to discuss in this forum work done digitally.

I don't care what he uses, in this context it has no relevance but for your information he uses a Canon 35mm S.L.R. and 3 lenses http://www.uklandscape.net/interviews/int fontanaF.html We are looking at great composition, spatial awareness, and colour co-ordination, and I can't see how if he used digital equipment the beauty of his work would be deminished except to the pedantic.

All of which he has.
I like them too, but then these (not the nudes) are the sort of photos I take, only in b&w. So I would, wouldn't I

I think these are wonderful photographs. I find his work very bold and sure-handed. I wish my work was that ho-hum.

If you click on the images you'll get the year they were made.

He has a very refined vision, almost film-noir black and white in color photographs. It looks awfully hard to do repeatedly. The simplicity begins to scream a bit too loudly after a while, though. But as Toffle says, I wish my work was that ho-hum.

Thanks for sourcing the info, that was my question. You don't need to pull the guns, lighten up.
I do care whether we discuss great work done on film versus same done on digital. The later doesn't belong here.

As Ben has already pointed out, when it comes to the discussion of a compositional style, the medium is irrelevant - utterly and completely so.

Lets not risk turning a thread about beautiful photographs into yet another film/digital-apartheid rant-session, please

I don't own a digital S.L.R, and have shot film for more than 60 years, but when I saw this photographers work it never entered my head to think what type of equipment they were shot on only that they were beautiful and I wanted to share them, if they had been digital images in my opinion it in no way would make them less so.

I liked his work for a while. As far as I can tell, he's been around for long time and shot Kodachrome. And I'm not sure if I read it some place or it was my imagination, but I thought he shot large format to keep all the lines aligned etc...

And yes, good photos are good photos no matter the medium. I also think when it comes to basics like composition, light etc there's no point bringing it in. It could be oil painting for what I care. As long as it helps me learn and broaden my mind.
