Went to a major show of Francesca Woodman's pictures from the 1970s at Marion Goodman Gallery in New York, many of them not shown before. They were smaller prints than what I'm used to seeing of hers, and in many ways they looked like outtakes from her better known body of work. But this made them special for me and perhaps even better. She was much more than the precocious youngster she is often portrayed as. Indeed I would call her a true genius in the making before her suicide in 1981 at age 22. An excellent catalog is available from the gallery.
