I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to see a photo show called "Framing a Century: Master Photographers, 1840-1940" which was simply fantastic. The show included Roger Fenton, Gustave LeGray, Carleton Watkins, Nadar, Atget, Walker Evans and Brassai, as well as many others. The prints were small and part of a private collection that was purchased in 2005.
Amazingly, this show did not include Ansel Adams or Edward Weston but I did not even notice until well after.
It is well worth the visit if in NYC.
