Yeah, this is good to know. I haven't had to repair holders lately, I remember years ago not many options readily available.

In the past I have used some bookbinding repair tape

That's the first that came to my mind as well. How does it hold up? I notice that bookbinder's tape in other applications works surprisingly well and makes for durable repairs or DIY solutions. I've not had to repair any film holders, yet. The original tape on my Lisco's etc seems very durable.

So far so good. It's been maybe seven years or so, but then I don't shoot sheet film very often, it's mostly a pinhole day exercise. I believe the stuff from Lineco is linen tape, so it should be fairly tough.

Thanks
Good for bellows too?
Maybe. The strength and flexibility is certainly good, but I am unsure of absolute light blocking capability.

I bought it for just that purpose, but then decided before it arrived that a full replacement of a bellows was a better decision.

I have started using it for film holder hinges, but not for bellows so far...

About ten years ago I bought a two inch wide by ten yard roll of book binders tape. I have replaced many film holder hinges and taped corners of bellows over the years and still have half the roll remaining. Price back then was cheap, it still is. I've found other uses for it as well.

That is not really light-proof, especially a single layer of it. But it is thin, strong, and flexible. You can use it on cloth bellows too, with the same stipulation of double layering it.

Light-tightness is not needed for taping the hinges on filmholders. They are light-proof by themselves. For bellows, that's another issue...
