Anyone know the answer? I cannot find it on the UK's Silverprint, or even on Fotospeeds website which seems to have only the RC paper and Fotospeed lith! This is really, really bad news as I really rated this paper and wanted te use it as replacement for Agfa MCC.... I hope this is not going to be bad news, esp after Agfa, Forte etc...

Cheers,

Tom

Bad news indeed - I've just used my last sheet! What's the closest currently available paper? I like Kentmere Fineprint Warmtone and Ilford Warmtone but I find the base can be just a little too warm for me. Legacy was just slightly 'ivory' - ideal.

I have to admit I am getting very worried. I would not suggest that Ilford papers are not as good as the Forte, Agfa and Legacy papers, only that I printed better prints on these. I guess I will have to make the Ilford papers work for me now and pray that they do not disappear. We really are struggling for papers now, there's no denying it. This was a truly superb paper and it is a sad loss. How many FB VC options are there left? Very few.

I have been out of the UK since spring 05 and in this time so much has changed. i have kept fairly abrest of developments but it hit home when looked to order paper upon my return in a few weeks.....and most were gone or going!

Ilford - keep it going! Oh, and if you could produce a paper simlar to Agfa MCC or Legacy it would be appreciated. I have never liked the base colour of MG Warmtone!

I have used legacy a lot in the past and find the ilford fb warmtone glossy to be the closet to legacy. Try it with ilfords coldtone developer and selenium tone it 1-9 for 3-5 minutes. In my opinion for max black density and microcontrast I have not found a better paper....and I have tried everything currently availalble. Again, this is only one mans opinion.

Regards,
John

I have had better results with the warmtone than the regular but know both are more capable than I am! At the end of the day, as long as they remain available we can keep doing what we do. I know some dont like the Kentmere finerprint but I had some nice prints off that so may revive this option too (that is after I buy up as much forte polygrade as I can get my hands on....) The possibility of the new formula Ilford papers that keeps them super flat even after processing sounds fantastic and I cannot wait for this to become available.

Kentmere standard in weak Typhoo?:D

I've been 'making' my own ivory base recently with 1 bag green tea/litre.
Trick to judge though as it really dries down. I just seem to prefer the colour to the regular tea I was using which I suspect is full of red dye

What about Fomatone MG or Adox Fineprint?
