Looking for some feedback on Fotoimpex: prices, customer service quality, and other relevant purchase & post-purchase issues. Looks like it might be a viable alternative for me in case I can't get it within Poland, which is not very likely, but still something worth exploring. Thanks.

Regular trustworthy German retailer with strong focus on analog photography.

Well, Fotoimpex meanwhile has a spokesman causing harassment by insults, and as result big harm to the firm.

But I do not know of changes within actual sales transactions.

While on it, I was expecting them to stock Orwo film in bulk, they don't. :ninja:

I am an happy customer of FotoImpex for what I think about twenty years, I do one or two orders by the year, and I got a problem once (wrong item shipped), and it was quickly solved. The prices are fair, sometime a little higher than here and there, but I especially appreciate the cheap delivery (10€) whatever you order !
@Witold : the Orwo films are a rare and peculiar film, often "Unobtainium". I got my bulk rolls from the Bay, but generally at expensive prices. I see you opened another thread about this. Like especially the UN74+.

Very reasonable prices, excellent shipping charges, well stocked, highly recommended. I made an order on Friday and was informed that shipping will be delayed due to increased volume of orders. They were upfront about it and I appreciate it.

I live in the USA and have ordered several times from fotoimpex. Prices are good, shipping is reasonable (at least, before the "COVID tariff" which is not under their control), and service is first-class! I haven't looked recently, but I can order a box of 8x10 Foma 100 and, with shipping, the total cost is still quite a bit less than Freestyle.

I have bought from them a few times, delivery time to the UK is always fast and they send an email to confirm dispatch. I don't know anything about a spokesman causing hassle. I just use the website and order. I've had excellent service from them.

Fotoimpex and Macodirect are my go-to's.

+ Adox products are pretty cheap and good!
+ Got a free Adox t-shirt without asking

- Two times happened that something that says "on stock" has not been really. Wondered why my package is not shipped yet (after few days waiting) and discovered that some product is on backorder and whole order is on hold. No communication on this until I ask. And then no compensation on the "error". I don't understand how such big company can have stocking errors so often.
- Really slow and bit crappy communcation on email. Usually I just call them and get the things fixed straight away.
- A bit slow shipping process, Macodirect is clearly faster on shipping / shipping method.
- Stupid packing material; either the plastic foam "flakes" (really irritating to dispose and not eco friendly) or really dusty chopper recycled paper.

In future I prefer Macodirect but Fotoimpex is not banned

Fotoimpex have good prices and fast shipping. I got the wrong size sheet film once, and got a return label and sent it back and got the correct size. Just how it should be. Also, I got fast replies to emails, and they are very good at explaing things, even more complicated chemical things. Very good service, and you can tell that they are passionated.

Other customers may have different experiences, but we are all human. Often when a company seems slow and lazy, it's the opposite and they are very busy.

Looks like no notable issues with Fotoimpex and worth doing business with. Great.

Good evening,
Fotoimpex is online-wise one of two or three go-tos in film photography, although they also are running an offline store in Berlin as well. Perhaps you have heard the name Adox, for films and papers and chemistry. Its the same people behind it.
Regards, Carsten.

Excellent service and excellent products. I have ordered from them with delivery to Sweden for at least 7 - 8 years without problems.
Just go for them !!!!!!

I’ve always had good experiences with Fotoimpex, since the 1990s. Mirko Böddeker has long been a reliable source for analogue photo materials manufactured in East and East-Central Europe that were once difficult to obtain in the U.S.

depends how you describe a company as "BIG" I would imagine that most folks would consider Fotoimpex as a Small or Medium size enterprise. You really can expect Amazon when you are dealing with a highly specalized retailer - even if they run one of the more important sources of film and paper and chemistry.

Here in Germany we got a special waste service to care for such as those plastic foam-flakes . The same for paper. Whether these foam flakes are reallya good idea is debatable.
But now you made me curious. What what would be the ideal packaging material from your point of view?

Totally flawless service. Fotoimpex and today's Adox are related companies. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADOX)

Adox/Fotoimpex has made a great effort to support film photography and they deserve the support and respect form the film photography community, IMO.

Thanks, and same to al others pitching into this thread. Surely good to know it's a prime supplier in Europe. Now I just to see how long Filmotec will take to deliver my ORWO spools

Filmotec is a very specialized company and they may have less personel working now to be safe during the pandemic. I haven't bought from them, but I'm sure they like customers. Delivery can be slower than usual from many businesses, not only because of less workers active at their places, but also at the postal sorting sites. Send Filmotec an email if you are unsure.

I have bought items from through eBay as usual this year, and I tell the sellers that there is no hurry. If I need to go to pick up a packet I wait until I have many errands to do at the same time, usually in the early morning. These are not the best times to be impatient.

I'm with you.

So far everything went at supersonic speed with FIlmotec, so that part could not have been any faster. But they also did not reply to several specific questions I had, so it was not all that sweet. I don't doubt I get the stuff though.

Not only is FotoImpex a very dependable and very dedicated retailer of purely analog materials, it is also involved in the resurrection of Forte"s Polywarmtone Fiber Paper, if successful surely the most important contribution to analog photography in recent history.

Fotoimpex has always been my primary source for film and paper. It's a pity ADOX Lupex is no longer available..
