Fortepan 100 - nice!

Hello friends,

I just wanted to share with you my joy about new Fortepan 100. It came to Moscow, I shot a 120 roll, developed it for 14 min in homebrew Microphen 1+3, and... the results are excellent! The tonal scale is outstanding, and the film doesn't have this gloomy black look - the silver in it is brownish-black, but the negatives are printable on a normal grade paper. I have a 100 ft just out of date roll I bought a couple of months ago. I processed test rolls in Edwal 12 and D 777, the Edwal 12 at EI 50 do look good, the roll in D 777 were 2 stops under. I have a roll shot at EI 200 for acufine which I plan to process this weekend.

Well, none of your developers are sold in Moscow - but you can see how my own-made Microphen works. I didn't try to use it straight - in 1+3 version it's a pleasure I can say that this Forte 100 is not worse than any of Ilford films (though the film base is a bit too curvy ).

Acufine is a high energy developer similar to Micorphen, Micorphen pushes well you might want to experiment to see if you can push to 200 or even 400. I will let you know how I do with Acufine at 200. I have a gallon mix of Microphen somewhere and I might mix it up just to use with Forte 100. Once I use my roll I doubt that I will be able to get another. I keep promising my self that I wont buy anymore outdate rolls of film, but what can I say.

Yes, it looks like PanF+, but without too much of a contrast - and without deep black on negative, due to different silver grain size. Also, Forte 100 can be nicely reversal-processed - giving almost grainless transparencies, with soft gradation. A base fog is not a problem in my case, too. And it handles contrasts perfectly - I shot Oleg with a single light source, and see how well it prints! I wonder what Tmax would say in this situation... Your picture caught my eye that time - and now we can see that was not only to nice esprit, but thanks also to Forte
