Is Formulary TF-5 an acceptable fixer for C41? I use a Phototherm and it would be convenient for me to wire up my system to use one fixer instead of two for both B&W and C41... Someone recommend TF5 for use when splitting up a BLIX mixture so I'm wondering if I can just switch to it in general.

Thanks!

TF-5 was recommended to me and it works fine. However it is also my understanding that the fixer used for color film works just fine for black & White as well.

Like Pioneer, my understanding is that it’ll work.

The caveat is that once you use a batch of working solution for one type of film, say C41, then that particular batch should not be used for another, like B&W (and viceversa),

If that's true that would somewhat defeat the purpose. Why would that be?

Different byproducts from the two processes?
Photo Engineer would be the one to ask, given his direct involvement with fixers including TF-5.

If it's true that the two shouldn't be mixed I think my best bet might be to just swap the dump line when running B&W through my Phototherm. Phototherm is pretty smart with it's replenishment system but it's really only good at managing it for one set of chemistry.
