Some time ago I made this without the DTPA but that is now available as pointed out by @albada.
I wrongly used EDTA ,the results were indistinguishable from commercial Xtol, it was kept under inert gas.

Look for "Mytol" and "E-76" in Anchell's "The Darkoom Cookbook". Both of these are homebrew versions of X-Tol and both work quite well.

actually, It's in thesame author's Film Development Cookbook, which, for many reasons, is a valuable book to have for any serious darkroom worker.
