Dog seems to be doing fine, as is my friend -- all considering the circumstances. He (my friend, not the dog, who is also a friend) is a home repair guy who is finally finishing the work needed on his own home (much to his wife's delight). He is not taking jobs right now to avoid the needed trips to hardware stores, etc (he is taking care of his 90+ yr old mom). So yeah...dog is like, situation normal, except he misses the treats I use to sneak him during our twice-weekly get-togethers of our social/drinking club...which hasn't met in a long while since we have earned the name "The Mad River Old Crows".
Four or so of us Old Crows (3 or more is a murder) did get together last Saturday and cooked 20 pizzas in an outdoor wood-fired oven for the community. Being tall and the oven being tall (built into the back of a horse trailer), I do the actually cooking -- fun actually, and since there was a light drizzle occasionally, I was warm and dry in front of the oven!
Oh, and while the two were by the fire last night a small mystery was solved for him. He was thinking it quite odd that at about the same time every evening the dogs around his neighborhood start barking. At 8pm around the fire, the whole town started its nightly howl, setting off all the dogs, too. He did not know of it, and from inside his house, he never heard the human howls. It's nuts and I like it.
