Footswitch for Durst ST450?

I have a Durst CLS 450 and was looking to see if they make a footswitch for the ST450 timer. If not, is it possible to fit a more modern digital timer for CLS450 Model that has a footswitch accessory? I would appreciate recommendations if this is possible.

Is there a plug on the back for a footswitch? If not then you may get someone with some electrical/electronic smarts to wire one up in parallel with the front-panel focus/time switch.

As for an external timer, it may be possible. Could you post a picture of the back of the two boxes: one with every plugged in and one with the cords unplugged that would give more information.

A good source of footswitches is music shops. They are sold either as push to make for effects control or push to break for use as the loud pedal on electric pianos.

Judging by the connector on the back, I would assume it would need to be push to make and would connect in parallel with the switch on the front as Nicholas suggests.

If there is room somewhere for a 1/4" jack socket, get one fitted and use something like this: http://www.gear4music.com/G4M/JHS-FS1-Non-Latching-Footswitch/2SF

Oh yes, make sure you get a non-latching footswitch. Confirm that the switch on the front is non-latching first. It looks like it is.

You need to plug the footswitch into the outlet at the back of the ST450 into the connector marked 'START'. You can plug a second footswitch into the 'FOCUS' connector.

It looks like it uses 'Jones' plugs. It is highly likely a Beseler footswitch would work. The timer wasn't designed by Durst but by EPOI in the US, and they designed it for a standard US footswitch.

As to using an external timer with these two boxes, I take it you would want to retain the stabilizer feature of the ST450. I think it would be possible, but to answer that definitively I would have to see how the two boxes attach to each other.
