I was thinking if petrifying various foods and converting them into obscures.. can anyone recommend a urethane or something similar I might use . ?

Thanks macfred! I had this inspirational thought to make a box camera out of my dinner last night…. I’ll look to see if that fun stuff is here or if it requires a hazmat license
It might be regulated ( those warning labels look scary! )

You can get it at Michaels if you're in the US. Ask for polyester casting resin. Might not want to inhale the fumes...

People dry squash and gourds ("gourd" usually just means an inedible squash, AFAICT) for decoration, without even poly casting them. It just takes a long time to dry.
