Just a note, just developed __ FOMAPAN classic 100 asa /120-RF

and to my surprise No Curl !!!!

this was fresh FOMAPAN classic 100 asa /120-RF.

What expiration date? and perhaps batch number?

Foma 100 is beautiful and am a 120 shooter but have had some challenges with it, so not really using it frequently. The last batch I used was IIRC 3/2026 and it had the pesky AH magenta spots (solved by a long ethanol+water bath).
My last rolls developed mottling after a couple trips (2 months) in hot and humid tropical conditions and I ended up giving them to a photographer who would make use of that.

I stopped using Foma 120 due to curling, I hope this is the case for Foma 400 as well.

I recently processed a couple of fresh 120 rolls of Fomapan 100 Classic and both had minimal to no curl and just a touch of cupping. This was my first experience with Foma 100 in roll form and I was very happy with the results. I use quite a bit of this stock in sheet formats--4x5 and 8x10.

I just processed a roll yesterday and sleeved it this morning. There is a bit of curl but no cupping.
Out of curiosity, what does everyone's rebate say? Mine said "ultra 100." I did quite a bit of internet searching, and I'm confident that my backing paper matched correctly to Fomapan.
I exposed the roll a year ago which is why I'm asking the questions, and I didn't have a fresh roll to compare against.

All of the foma I've ever developed in 120 said ULTRA in the rebate.

The rebate on my last two 120 rolls looked smeared. Weird! The negs were fine.

I have just developed 2 rolls of Fomapan 100-120, Exp. 01/2025 and 06/2025. Both curl as hell. Maybe the curl is caused by the long storage of the spooled film. Very fresh film has not been on the spool for such a long time. Maybe this could be the reason for the flatness.

I bought several rolls of Arista 100 from Freestyle about a month ago and it had much, much less curl, but style had a far share of cupping. The cupping is a pain to work with in my scanner film holder, but the curl made it easier since I only had to fight one problem instead of two at the same time. I also noticed the rebate lettering and numbers looked way over exposed and over developed. So much so that they had a smeary type black glow around the letters and numbers. It's nice having less curl, but I sure wish the negatives were as flat as what I get with Tmax 100 in 120.

A thought on the curl for FOMA if left to sit a short time -dev-fix-wash I think the cupping & curl is not a problem ,
BUT the more duration in the soups then more the cupping & curl...???

That has me scratching my head! I processed the last roll with very little curl the same as I did the ones before that had a ton of curl. It might have something to do with drying and humidity, but wet time seems hard to believe for me. Of course I have been wrong once before or maybe twice before.

Since last year, my batch of FP 100 has a thinner, more transparent base that doesn't curl. Also the edge markings changed from the old "rear-projection display" to more modern dot-matrix. I used to not like the old base, it was to muddy for me, but I now like a lot the newer bluish base.
