Whilst perusing TEMU the other day I came across this 5x magnifier that might be of interest.
(Its quite cheap enough to buy 2 just in case you lose one).....hang it around your neck .
Cost vary dependig on vendor but I bought at Uk pounds £1.50 each (couple of $dollars??)

I do not know, but I am afraid that the cost of the monocle magnify lens will break me. 😢😭

I got my focus magnifier free out of a skip (dumpster for some readers). It used to be part of a spectrophotometer I think. It's a simple magnifying lens in a short tubular mount, which I have jammed in a plastic 35mm film pot, with most of the bottom cut away. That puts it a convenient distance from my eye. I can, just about, hold it in my eye like a monocle, but holding it by hand is a lot more comfortable.

Good on you.. Beats me why these things cost as much as they do.... then I suppose like sunglasses...slap a fancy name on a piece of cheap plastic and add a big price....

I prefer the Costco sunglasses that are bifocal and have a circle with a reading glass perscription

It's a monocle -- $7 on Amazon. Seems pretty steep to me. Temu does have some non-adjustable 4X jeweler's loupes for under $5 -- Nice black, suction cup exterior, but no diopter adjustment.

I'll stick with my 7X Wista. I can adjust the eye-piece for when I'm wearing glasses or not (usually not).

Par for the course for Amazon where prices are concerned...mind you even on TEMU the prices vary from low to about three/four times what I paid for the particular item.......🙄

Temu is on my boycott list! China is one step away from owning us.

I generally try not to buy Chinese stuff if I have an alternative; certainly I wouldn't choose it just for being cheap. One reason for being cheap might be the thing is produced by forced labour in a prison, or a prison camp in Xinjiang. Both of those go on.
OTOH I went ahead and bought a 7Artisans lens for my digital; there wasn't anything else like it that I could see.

Unfortunately, more often than not, when you buy just about anything -- including plenty of photo gear -- you have no idea where is was manufactured. And, as we know, much camera and computer gear has parts that are made in several countries, and it's all assembled somewhere else. Talk about a plate of spaghetti.

Not like my good old cameras, made from good British teak and mahogany, felled and sawn by happy smiling Empire subjects... What?

Median income in China is about 57% of US median income, while median income in Mexico is about 25% of US...different standards of living. The globalization in the manufacture of key components or in the raw materials whose origin are abroad make for a very complex situation.

Let's be honest. Not everyone, and not even everyone with a computer, can access this FORUM -- but that's a completely different topic & thread.

As this thread has gone completely into political territory, and as that is forbidden by our rules, we are closing it!
