Hi,

for a black Focomat IIc I am looking for a pair of 'film wings'. I would also be happy with one of them.

If you have anything let me know, preferably by private message. Tell me how much you would like, or perhaps we could exchange as I have a lot of Focomat parts.

Thanks, Michael

Just thought, depending on where you are located, do you have sheet metal shop around? For them it would be simple to make a pair and even paint with the correct crinkle paint.

Try a (Leica) repair shop somewhere? I was thinking maybe Professional Camera Repair in NYC, if they're still around.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have also considered to have them made and there's a place here (Netherlands) where they could do this. You're right, it will be easy and to get them painted in the same crinkle paint is something I would like to get some experience with. My worry is the cost. This IIc was given to me and in very poor condition, I have fixed it up with many parts I had and these film wings are the last things missing. Unimportant in terms of printing, I never use them. It is just I am so used to see my IIc with them . . .

The irony of it is that I had two pairs extra and gave those away.

Anyone here with experience using crinkle paint?

Hello Hilo,

I own a couple of Focomat IIc enlargers, one complete and a second with no lenses and no cable. I'm afraid I can't separate the film wings, but I have used a similar type of crinkle paint in Australia. The last time I used it was more than 25 years ago so I'm sure it's formula has changes a bit, but it was used in the Automotive market for engine parts and the one that I bought was made by an American supplier VHT. It seems to be the same maker and it's name is
VHT Wrinkle Plus Black Product SKU Code: DI00904. I hope this helps. Regards,

Gary.

Gary, thanks for your input, that is much appreciated !

I found a pair of black film wings for the IIc not long ago (on a local Ebay-type site in Germany . . .) and I have just finished the final restoration. Attached a picture of this enlarger

And I know about the VHT wrinkle paint and should actually experiment with it as I have had some Focomat parts made from aluminium.

thanks again, Michael

Good for you. It looks gorgeous, if enlargers can. I have to send my lenses for a CLA, but how do you find a technician who have done this before. I'm told that the early Leica enlarger lenses are 'difficult', and mine are very early. Mmmm.....

How early is that? Are they Focotar 9,5cm and Focotar 6cm? Or Elmar 100mm and Focotar 60mm?
