Hi,

I have a Focomat 1c and can't seem to set the autofocus anymore. I used it with a nonstandard easel and had to undo the previous setting. went back to my normal Leitz easel that as the required 2cm height.

I followed instructions in the manual as per attached.
  1. Insert negative
  2. set largest aperture
  3. move to biggest enlargement setting (10x) all the way up
  4. focus image using focus ring (b)
  5. set clamp (c)
  6. move to 2.5x setting
  7. loosen screw (d) see picture, on my focomat there are two screws, but the point here is just to loosen the guiding cam
  8. here I should be able to bring the picture into focus by using the screw on the guiding cam.
    1. this is where it fails. turning the screw further in, makes it worse, loosening the crew brings it into focus a little more, but not enough. The screw falls out before the picture is in focus.
I can bring the picture into focus at the 2.5x setting, but only by using focusing ring b again. meaning undoing the autofocus setting for the 10x.

I have three lenses. a Nikko, componon-s and a focotar lens.

it doesn't work with either of the three lenses.

can anyone help?

Thanks

Do you have the retaining pin in the hole holding the clamp onto the pole at the right location for autofocus with the easel?

It's just one of those things that can be easily overlooked.

Are you using the 17675 X spacer on the Focotar?

Are you using the smaller 24x30cm wooden easel? Or the larger wooden 30x40cm easel? I think these are 2,5cm and 3cm.

Yes using the 17675x extension tube as per picture. The ease is small up to 8x10 but has the same thickness as my 11x14 Leitz easel. I thought it was 2cm but could be 2.5

The solution was the pin position. I just never touch that part and totally forgot about it.
