fluorescent material in the darkroom?

I use a few small dots (little finger nail size) of the glow in the dark tape at light switches in my darkroom plus I always put me between the dots and the film when loading thereby shielding the film from any possible fogging. I tested for fogging and the only time I got any was when I put the film or paper directly on the dots. When you are in total darkness even a tiny spot of light is easy to see, you don't need a big piece.

Don't worry I was confused myself. It's simple really. Phosphorescent burns unless kept in water and fluorescent is what they put in toothpaste to preserve your teeth. I am glad I've got it straight now.

Dear Doc W,

It works, you just have to use it carefully. Film is particularly sensitive but if you load your tanks in a changing bag that doesn't come into play.

I keep banging into things in the darkroom. It's dark in there! If I put fluorescent tape on the edge of a few counters and baseboards, would that have an effect on unexposed paper and film? While I am at it, what about the fluorescent materials on timers, like Gralab, or other devices? Is it just too miniscule to matter?
