Got a new computer with a LCD flat screen monitor. Is there a website where the color calibration can be checked and adjusted? Right now, I think its a bit bright and has a blue tinge to it. I want tot try to get this thing close to some "nominal" to ensure my prints are displayed as best they can be on the web.

TIA

There are websites where you can check the gamma using a step wedge. I don't think there is any way to check color calibration though, short of buying a Spyder or something. That will help you get your monitored adjusted as best it can but there's still no guarantee your blue will match other people's blue.

Alex;

I use a Kodak color chart and a MacBeth. I scan them and calibrate so that they match visually to me in my room. Then I know that both my scanner and my monitor match the "real world" as I see it.

That is the best I ever do here.

Here's a page with color and gamma charts and lots of info about visual and mechanical methods of calibration--

I use a GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display 2 calibration device, and I use the gamma chart on this Norman Koren page to adjust the angle of the LCD screen on my laptop.

Before I got the Eye-One device, I found I could get pretty close with Quick Gamma, which is a visual calibration method. See the Koren page for a link to the free software, but the machine is more consistent.

Thanks guys, just what I needed. According to the chart on the link David provided, some tweaking is necessary, just as I thought.
