Flashgun question

The question: I have this Metz 45CT1 flashgun which dates back a few years.Can it be used on a modern SLR (Nikon F80) without blowing up the delicate electronics of this camera?

Here in the states Wein Products makes a device called a "safe-sync"
This drops the trigger voltage from 60ish on older flash units down to +/- 6v. which is safe for the newer cameras. There are several different models you can more than likely get information from Calumet. I use one on a Canon digital camera with old vivitar 283's & a new monolight. Hasn't zapped it yet.

The Wein Safe-Sync is a good thing. I use one with my Normans and my camera that dare not speak its name.

I've got the same flash - which happened to come with a manual...

In the specifications it states:

Sync: Low Voltage Thyristor triggering circuit (for units from serial no 534000 onwards).

In otherwords you only need to worry if its older than that. Just to be safe I measured mine with a volt meter, and it only recorded about 12 volts (I think).

Thank you all for your replies. Yeah..unfortunately I have one of those flash guns with a low serial number. However I'll see if I can find a Wein Safe Sync.
