flash sync of rolleicord

hello,

I am using rolleicord Vb and got problem.
The flash sync with Bowens flash does not work...or a very few times it works.
I have cheked the cord with multimeter and it is good. My camera has been checked also 6 months ago... and it was no problem.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

How firmly does the sync cord fit the camera socket? The split outer connector of the cord can be crimped inward to make a tighter fit.
With a cord connected to the camera socket, ohm meter connected to the cord, trip the shutter on B, the meter should read less than 10 ohms.
The sync will be too fast to read on the meter at other speeds, usually its just a wiggle of the needle on an analog meter with a digit change at best on a digital meter.
Check the MXV for correct position.

It’s most likely a case of the wrong cord for that camera. Either use one with areal Rolleicord lock or a long-nose PC. Paramount can supply either. I used a long-nose quite successfully but often wished I had a locking cord.

On the prerequisite that the sync switch stays closed after release unless cocked again, keep it in that state, meter the other cord's end for conductivity and wobble at the PC plug with else static. That should show erratic connection at the connectors.

They only stay closed as long as the shutter blades are full open.

Flash sync contacts are at red arrow, second photo has the Bulb lever removed for clarity.
The sync center contact on the body is connected to the shutter via a wire that is attached via a screw socket on the shutter in place of the PC socket shown. Many cameras used the shutter with each having its own minor variation for that camera model.
If the sync cord is not the problem then the shutter will have to be serviced.

Though I think I came across shutters with the switch staying closed, but these were simple shutters.

CN-1110-000 is the base shutter used in Rolleiflex/Rolleicord V cameras.

There are even male and female tools marketed to re-shape that outer tube. Problem is that any mismatch of connectors will deform that tube conically.

That old connector design is not ideal, but lived on.
