Flash options for Mamiya C330f

Hello All,
I would like to add a flash to my C330 but have no idea which one to get. I have up til now only done available light photography. Any suggestions to which flash works best and easiest would be great.

A thyristor flash... vivitar 285 or 283 or for more punch a Metz 60 CT-1. Or any flash that can be set to non ttl exposure control. Then of course you could learn the guide number method and use any flash that you want.

A big, heavy, potato-masher, on a side bracket with a square mounting for bottom of camera always worked well for me.

Anything with a PC cord connection (or a hotshoe to PC cord adapter). You may want to consider a bracket if you use a waist level finder.

Some of the Mamiya TLR flash shoes are fitted the wrong way around by convention (the slide stop is at the back), which may be an issue. A simple shoe stand-off can fix that. Turning the shoe on the body is possible, but not recommended.

The left hand grip which also fits the RB67 has a flash shoe on it. Perfect for non-bracketed flashes like the Vivitar 285.

This is what I use. The shoe on the bracket is a cold shoe, so if you have a hotshoe flash (like the Vivitar flashes mentioned, or the Olympus T32 I use sometimes) you need a pc to hotshoe adapter.

Alternatively, I have had my Mamiya Grip modified to permit screwing in the Metz camera bracket for my Metz 60 CT series flashes. Those flashes use pc cords.

Either a large potato masher type, such as the Metz 45 series or the Vivitar 283 or 285 (all mentioned earlier). But if using a shoe mount flash, I like a bracket that mounts the flash over the lens axis.

Any strobe you are comfortable with such as a large potato masher type; the Vivitar 283 or 285; or the Nikon SB600 or SB800.

If you're feeling adventurous, get a flashbulb holder. Avoid the over-expensive Graflex ones (stupid Star Wars geeks! May you all rot under the shackles of the Empire!), and get off brands like Kalart. Then, find blue or clear #5 / #25 bulbs on eBay (there's always a good supply), and you're off to being the next Diane Arbus.

All of my flashes I operate off camera. I use pocket Wizards.

When I used a Mamiya C220 for flash photography, mainly portraits, I found the Metz 45 series went extremely well with the camera.
