I recently purchased a Yongnuo YN560-TX II Manual Flash Controller to control my Yongnuo YN560 IV flash units wirelessly.

The Yongnuo YN560-TX II manual flash controller works well with my newer cameras that have a built-in hot shoe.

With my RB67, Nikon F2, and other older cameras that do not have a built-in hot shoe, the Yongnuo YN560-TX II manual flash controller does not work. When I directly connect the Yongnuo YN560-TX II manual flash controller to the RB67 with a male-mini (3.5mm) to PC-male sync cord, the flash does not fire.

Based on my research and information provided by B&H Photo, the flash should fire. I do not understand what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I checked the manual and there is no mention of the 3.5mm connector for use with PC sync. Are you sure you didn't connect it to the port for shutter release?

For the Nikon there are flash shoe adaptors that will let the camera use a hot-shoe device.
For the RB the device @cowanw linked should work (and should work for the Nikon too).

Before I placed my order with B&H, I described what I needed and they recommended the male-mini (3.5mm) to PC-male sync cord. Plus, the shutter release port is the only place it fits.

Thank you!

I suppose the question you are asking is ``ìs the shutter release signal the same as the flash fire signal`` My Contax electronic shutter release is an altogether different connector as it would likely be a multi signal electronic pulse ie focus first and then shoot. Whether the modern flashes are backwards compatible you will have to tell us. As to the staff at B+H, one wonders if they are backwards knowledgable.

I've never dealt with the sales staff at B&H, but in general, I don't trust anything a salesperson says to me, especially the sales people at big stores/companies. I find Google searches, internet forums, and people you know are much more reliable when it comes to product information.

If you're 100% positive that the PC-to-mini cable is good, and that it's plugged into the proper connector on the flash; good chance it's a trigger that won't work with the RB shutter. I can't get any cheap chinese radio triggers to work with the RB - but my Pocket Wizards and my old-style Quantum radio slaves work fine with RB. Same deal with my Minolta Spot Meter (flash version). I think the RB circuit has too much resistance.

The PC-to-mini cable is good. However, based on the information provided by COWANW in this thread, it is the wrong cable for the job.

I asked B&H to replace it with the correct cable. The replacement cable arrived today. The replacement cable has a male PC connection on one end of the cord. The other end of the cord has a female hot shoe connection that accepts the Yongnuo manual flash controller and a male cold shoe connection that inserts into the female cold shoe on the side of the RB67.

I tried the replacement cable and it works.

Thanks to all for your help.
